Strozzapreti – When History is Served on a Plate

Date: May 5, 2025 - May 8, 2025

Location: MyCaffé, Belval

At MyCaffé, every dish has a story.
But some carry a real legend.

Take Strozzapreti, those twisted pasta with a name that raises eyebrows:

“Strozzapreti” literally means “priest stranglers.”

Sounds odd? It’s actually a piece of Italian folklore.

🧶 Legend has it that in the Emilia-Romagna region, women used to make this pasta by hand, muttering about the clergy who often ate better than the rest of the village.
As they twisted the dough with a bit of irritation (and a lot of skill), the name stuck: Strozzapreti.

A dish born of protest, turned into tradition.

Today, we’ve kept the name… and added a lot of flavour.

At MyCaffé, our Strozzapreti come dressed in:

  • A velvety broccoli cream

  • Fresh seafood, with a breeze from the coast

  • Sweet cherry tomatoes for a pop of sunshine

🍽️ A dish rooted in history, but made to brighten your present.
