Still Time This Week.
Menu of the Week, 5–11 July 2026
The week is already in motion. But there are still three days left in it, and three days at MyCaffé with a menu like this one is more than enough.
After last week’s 36°C heatwave, July has caught its breath. The air is cooler, lighter, the kind of mid-summer weather that makes a long lunch on the terrace feel like exactly the right decision. And tonight, for those who finish work and want something more than an ordinary Wednesday evening, Alessandro will be at the bar until 19:00 with MyAperitivo.
But first, the menu that has been running since Monday and will carry the week through to Saturday.
The Penne con Zucchine e Scampi in Salsa al Pomodoro are summer in its most direct form. Penne, those short tubular pasta whose angled ends were named for the quill of a pen, carry a tomato sauce built around zucchini and prawns: the sweetness of the shellfish, the freshness of the vegetable, the acidity of the tomato working together into something that feels entirely natural and completely satisfying. A combination found on every Italian coastline, unpretentious and entirely right.
The Risotto alla Milanese con Speck is this week’s most storied dish. The Risotto alla Milanese is one of the most historically documented preparations in Italian cooking. Its defining element is saffron, which gives the rice its extraordinary golden colour and its faintly floral, slightly metallic depth. Legend holds that the recipe was born in 1574 at a wedding banquet in Milan, when an apprentice glassmaker working on the Duomo added saffron to the rice as a joke. The guests were delighted rather than horrified, and a dish was born. This is a legend and cannot be verified, but it is too good not to tell. What is historical fact is that by the 19th century Risotto alla Milanese had become the signature dish of Lombardy, inseparable from the city that gave it its name. Here it arrives with speck, that smoked, cured ham from the Alto Adige, whose saltiness and gentle smokiness play beautifully against the sweet, golden richness of the saffron rice. Two northern Italian traditions meeting in one bowl, any day of the week, including today.
The Fusilli con Crema di Peperoni, Verdure e Primo Sale alle Olive bring the south into the week. Bell pepper cream, slow-roasted until the sugars concentrate and the flesh softens into something almost velvety, blended into a sauce that carries the warmth of the season inside it. Vegetables and Primo Sale with olives complete the bowl: the young cheese bringing milky freshness, the olives bringing the briny, slightly bitter counterpoint that Italian cooking uses so instinctively to balance richness. A dish that tastes like a vegetable garden in full July swing.
The Puccia Polipo is back this week, and establishing itself firmly as one of MyCaffé’s own. The puccia, that soft round bread from the Salento in Puglia, filled with grilled octopus tentacles, turnip tops, stracciatella and cherry tomatoes, carries the whole Puglian coast in one hand. The grilled octopus brings char and sea, the stracciatella brings cold cream, the cime di rape bring bitterness and green, and the cherry tomatoes tie everything into something that needs no explanation, only eating. If you have not tried it yet this week, Thursday and Friday are still there.
The Tagliata di Filetto di Pollo con Pomodori Secchi, Insalata di Spinaci e Salsa Yogurt Fatto in Casa closes the menu with the same clean reliability it has brought every week this season. Halal chicken fillet, sliced across the grain, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh spinach and a homemade yoghurt sauce that ties it all into something light, bright and completely at ease with July.
Tonight until 19:00: MyAperitivo by Alessandro. A salumi board, tarallini and a glass chosen for a Wednesday evening that still has something left in it.
The week runs through Saturday. The table is yours.
D’estate si mangia con tutti i sensi. ☀️
