One Day, Three Dishes: MyCaffé's Friday Special at €19.50

Some things belong on the regular menu, and some things belong to a single day and nothing more. This Friday at MyCaffé is the second kind.

Alongside the usual August selection of salad, carpaccio, puccia and grilled chicken tagliata, the chalkboard by the door carries a proposition for one day only: three dishes, each €19.50, each worth its own attention.

The Ravioli Farcite con Verdure open with a filling built entirely around vegetables, resting on a courgette cream and cherry tomatoes, finished with a quenelle of Philadelphia cheese. The Philadelphia is the surprise here, its smooth, mild creaminess doing something a traditional ricotta or mascarpone would do differently: rounder, gentler, quietly modern against a filling that is otherwise entirely classic in spirit.

The Orecchiette al Filetto di Manzo e Crema alla Tartufo bring real weight to the table. Beef fillet, one of the most prized cuts of the animal, tender and precise, meets a truffle cream whose earthy, almost musky perfume needs very little else around it to make its case. Orecchiette, those small ear-shaped pasta from Puglia, hold the sauce close in their characteristic cupped shape, letting nothing go to waste.

And the Tagliatelle all’Espadon e al Limone close the trio with something lighter and brighter. Swordfish, fished in Italian waters for centuries, meets the citrus lift of lemon in a pairing that tastes like the coast at its clearest.
