August Menu, MyCaffé Belval, Simplified Until 23 August

A Lighter August, on Purpose.

August has arrived in Belval the way it usually does, hot, bright, and entirely uninterested in slowing down. This week opens with temperatures pushing into the mid-thirties, the kind of heat that makes a heavy plate feel like the wrong idea entirely.

MyCaffé has adjusted accordingly. For the month of August, the kitchen moves to a lighter, simpler selection, and the doors will be closed every Saturday, giving the team a proper summer rhythm alongside the guests they serve all week.

Until 23 August, the menu is built around four things done well rather than many things done adequately.

A Salad, fresh and seasonal, changing with what the market offers that week. In August, this usually means tomatoes at their sweetest, courgettes at their most tender, and whatever green has the most character that particular morning.

A Carpaccio, thinly sliced and simply dressed, the kind of dish that asks for good ingredients and very little else. Carpaccio has always been a dish of restraint. In the heat of August, that restraint becomes a virtue rather than a limitation.

A choice of Puccia, that soft, round bread from the Salento in Puglia. Traditionally a street food of the deep south, the puccia has quietly become one of the things MyCaffé does particularly well, filled with whatever the season suggests.

And the Tagliata di Filetto di Pollo Grigliato, halal chicken fillet, grilled and sliced across the grain, served with sun-dried tomatoes, a fresh spinach salad and a homemade yoghurt sauce. It has closed the weekly menu here for months, and in August it becomes the anchor of the entire selection rather than simply its final note.

This is not a smaller MyCaffé. It is the same care, applied to fewer things, at the time of year when fewer things is exactly right.

Come any morning from 06:30 for your cappuccino. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings until 19:00, Alessandro will be at the bar with MyAperitivo, unchanged and unaffected by any of this.

Closed every Saturday in August. Open Monday to Friday as usual.
